Boasting 6% of the world’s biodiversity, Costa Rica, or the ‘rich coast,’ certainly lives up to its reputation. It is the only country to reverse deforestation, uses 98% renewable energy and is working to become the world’s first carbon-neutral nation. If you’re passionate about building a sustainable planet, volunteering in Costa Rica will give you the tools to pioneer change.
There are countless volunteer programs in Costa Rica. So, how to pick? Our Costa Rica Conservation Programs enable Canadian students to work in Costa Rica with grassroots organizations aligned with the UK Sustainable Development Goals.
Step outside the classroom and develop your knowledge working on current global challenges, immerse yourself in a new culture and gain the global mindset to facilitate change. At the end of your placement you will receive a certificate of hours completed and a reference, which you can use towards your future career – whether you’re interested in environmental sustainability or sea turtle conservation; community development, eco-tourism, or anything in between. Our Costa Rica Conservation Programs take place in the small fishing village of Nosara.
Located on the northern Pacific coast of the Nicoya peninsula, Nosara is a small fishing village with a big reputation. Hailed as the most beautiful peninsula in Costa Rica, this small community is rapidly gaining a global reputation as a wellness hotspot, a top surf town and THE place to go to see sea turtles nesting. This has resulted in a huge influx of travellers keen to experience the Pura Vida lifestyle, and with this, challenges to the sustainable development of the region.
We guarantee internship placements in a diverse range of fields, ranging from environmental protection to marine conservation; marketing to ecotourism and community development. These projects primarily focus on combating challenges of sustainable development while retaining the region’s environmental integrity.
